TAKING CONTROL – OF ME

I am not a doctor, nor would I ever wish to be.  The constraints placed upon the medical profession today by insurance firms, liability laws, billing requirements, our Government, lawyers, pharmaceutical companies and on and on and on – have made it virtually impossible to do anything other than medicate or try to fix problems after the fact. That is no room for proactive or innovative behavior. None. Zero. Zilch.

“The Six Million Dollar Man”

When I was a kid, the television show “The Six Million Dollar Man” with Steve Austin was always the highlight of my week. I am 49, for those of you in your 20’s, look it up its pure awesomeness. It was also decades ahead of its time technology-wise. The idea that we could use technology to overcome our inherit weaknesses, human frailties and allow us to live longer healthier lives has captured our imagination for thousands of years. Mine too.  I want to be running, swimming, working out, hiking and basically kicking ass when I am 85. Not barely able to move and have someone change my depends diapers simply because that’s the way it’s supposed to be. There are a lot of things we can do to effect this on our own – diet, exercise, supplements, etc but that only gets you so far.
